This Glossary has been created and published to serve as a reference tool for those working in the field of cost estimating and analysis. The information furnished in this document has been gathered from many different sources: individual personal files, company dictionaries and handbooks, and Government publications. Although the Glossary contains almost two thousand definitions, it is not intended to be all-inclusive or infallible. Rather, its purpose is to provide a concise and convenient source of data for cost analysts and estimators. It contributes to the standardization and common understanding of the terminology used by those in the profession. 

The Glossary has been cross-referenced to the greatest extent possible. Terms which are defined in the Glossary are highlighted whenever they are used within another term's definition.

The Glossary is provided in two formats: hard copy, and as a Microsoft Windows-compatible software application.
